Empowering the Next Generation: KZHAA Launches Youth Development Program At Kumasi Zongo Home and Abroad Unity Foundation (KZHAA), we believe that the true strength of every community lies in its youth. Our young people carry the dreams, energy, and creativity that will shape the future of Zongo and beyond. To nurture this potential, we have launched our Youth Empowerment Program, aimed at providing skills training, mentorship, and opportunities for sustainable growth. Why the Youth Program Matters Many young people in our Zongo communities face challenges such as unemployment, lack of guidance, and limited access to training opportunities. KZHAA’s initiative seeks to bridge this gap by creating a space where young men and women can gain practical knowledge, develop their talents, and prepare themselves for meaningful employment or entrepreneurship. Focus Areas The program will provide training in various skill areas, including: 1. Masonry (Building & Block Laying) Teaches the art of building walls, houses, and structures using blocks, cement, and mortar — helping youth participate in local construction projects. 2. Plumbing & Pipefitting Covers water installation, drainage systems, and repairs — a valuable trade for community development and home maintenance. 3. Electrical Installation Focuses on safe wiring, lighting, and electrical maintenance — preparing participants for both residential and commercial work. 4. Tiling & Flooring Trains participants to design and fix tiles for homes, mosques, and offices — promoting both creativity and craftsmanship. 5. Painting & Interior Decoration Offers skills in painting, color combination, and interior design to beautify homes and offices professionally. 6. Carpentry & Joinery Teaches furniture making, roofing, and wooden structures — ideal for self-employment and small business creation. 7. Welding & Metal Fabrication Equips youth to build and repair gates, doors, and metal frames — combining technical skill with creativity. 8. Auto Mechanic (Vehicle Repair) Focuses on vehicle maintenance and engine repair — helping youth earn from a vital and ever-growing trade. 9. Spray Painting (Auto/Household) Teaches bodywork finishing, painting, and coating — used for both vehicles and interior decorations. 10. Aluminum & Glass Works Introduces modern window, door, and partition making — common in home and office installations. 11. POP Ceiling Design Trains youth in creating stylish ceiling and interior finishes, a growing trend in modern construction. 12. Landscaping & Gardening Promotes environmental beautification, gardening, and lawn maintenance — adding value to community spaces. 13. Shoe Making (Leather Craft) Encourages creativity through the design and production of shoes, sandals, and slippers using local materials. 14. Tailoring & Fashion Design Equips participants to design and sew clothes — promoting self-employment and cultural expression. 15. Hairdressing & Barbering Provides professional grooming skills for men and women — an income-generating trade that’s always in demand. 16. Bead Making & Accessories Trains participants in jewelry, wristbands, and cultural ornaments — perfect for small business ventures. 17. Soap & Detergent Production Teaches how to produce liquid soap, bleach, and detergents — empowering youth to start home-based businesses. 18. Baking & Pastry Making Covers cake, bread, and snack production — suitable for both home and commercial sales. 19. Catering & Food Processing Trains youth in event catering, food packaging, and hygiene management for small-scale enterprises. 20. Bag & Cap Making Encourages the creation of fashionable items using fabric or leather — a creative and marketable skill. 21. Event Decoration & Management Develops event setup, decoration, and coordination skills — useful for weddings, conferences, and community events. 22. Interior Design Craft Teaches modern home decoration using fabric, lighting, and art — appealing to both local and urban clients. 23. Phone Repair (Hardware/Software) Gives knowledge in fixing mobile devices and software installation — a high-demand skill in modern communities. 24. ICT & Computer Maintenance Equips youth with basic computer literacy, typing, and repair skills — preparing them for digital careers. 25. Graphic Design & Printing Teaches branding, flyer design, and printing — helping youth support businesses and organizations. 💡 Our Vision Through these skills, KZHAA aims to reduce unemployment, empower the youth, and promote self-reliance. We welcome trainers, volunteers, and sponsors to partner with us in this life-changing initiative. We are glad to share that, since the launch of our campaign, several community members have expressed their willingness to support — including a fashion designer who has volunteered to train some of our youth. This shows the spirit of unity and generosity that defines our Zongo people.
